Climbing and Fitness

Climbing is exciting and fun, and certainly more invigorating than your boring treadmill routine. But maybe you are a little intimidated to try it? You don’t want to look silly, fall, get hurt or simply just don’t know where to start. This class incorporates both climbing as an excellent overall fitness routine and introduces you to the sport, technique and excitement of climbing in a safe and supportive female environment. Whether you are just looking to stay active and fit in a new and exciting way, or would like to pursue climbing as a hobby or passion, this is the place to start.

Climbing is an excellent overall workout that combines cardiovascular fitness, strength training, core development and overall aerobic movement. It targets muscles in the arms, chest, back, abs and legs. Enjoy a full body workout in one climb. This class will also incorporate exercises beyond climbing including resistance training, core development, and stretching.

“I’m not strong enough to climb.” I also hear this repeatedly. Climbing is more about precision, balance and placement than brute arm strength. Women are often better climbers because they focus on technique and flow in their movements, rather than relying too heavily on upper body strength. This class will introduce you to basic climbing techniques including how to make precise, quiet placements that carry your weight, body positioning and center of gravity alignment.

Classes are held at the Gravity Vault indoor climbing gym in Upper Saddle River during private class session times when gym is not open to the public.

4 consecutive weeks- $129
One makeup permitted on alternate day and with advance notice.

All fitness levels will benefit from this class.

Rowing Classes

Are you ready to be in the best shape of your life? This high intensity, low impact workout on the ERG rower will help you lose weight, burn fat, and feel incredible. Improve your strength, get lean, and improve your cardiovascular capabilities. This one hour class includes time off and on the rower, with the added benefit of body weight and strength exercises. Everyone works at their own level, so anyone from beginner to seasoned athlete will love this class.

 

Looking for a unique private event?

Private group classes are available for you and your friends.  So often the typical “girls night out” are events surrounded by food and alcohol that leave your guests tired, full and hungover.  Why not invigorate yourself and your guests?  I can customize a workout based on varied fitness levels and prepare and event that is sure to please and have everyone feeling invigorated, healthy and feeling great about their body.  Available at any location! Personal Training

Everyone needs help now and then. A little push (or a big one) can help steer you in the right direction and keep you focused on your goals. Let’s review your exercise history, current workout routine, specific intentions, and your schedule to determine when and how to best incorporate exercise in your day.  From there you will receive a realistic plan, that includes training sessions with me, and programs to follow yourself at your local gym or at home.  I offer personal training at your house, my fitness studio, or outdoors.  Not local? I offer online Skype training for clients too far to travel.

 

 

 

 


Outdoor Climbing

Spending time in nature can be one of the most relaxing, healing experiences you can have. Add a little adventure, and you have a day you will remember for the rest of your life. Rock climbing may sound intimidating to many people, but you’d be surprised how relaxed, challenging, and inspirational it is. How many times are you reminded to step outside your comfort zone? This is the perfect example how a small leap of faith in yourself and your abilities can genuinely change your life.

Climbing trips are available for people of all ages, experience and fitness levels. People are often surprised by how well they do on their first climbing experience. There is something very soothing about climbing. The focus becomes all about the rock and the natural movement, and all other worries seem to melt away.

Participants meet in the morning in NJ and carpool up together. The day include a full day of guided climbing, all gear and equipment, and the support and community of other like minded people. It’s an experience that truly bonds people together. Check back in the spring for dates and details.
